I have a 02 GTP with the Bose system and in my opinion it sounds like crap. The mids are far too pronounced and there is hardly any bass. I am just wondering if this is how the system is supposed to sound, or if there could be a problem with my amp? The sound is crystal clear and I haven't noticed any blown speakers, but it really does sound horrible. I don't know of anyone in the area with a Bose system I can compare mine to. Any thoughts other than the obvious get rid of it?

    nope, it sounds like that.

Thats "quality". just midbass and no real bass.

Clarity and Tone are distinctly different It might be clear...but does it sound good? I can't say I'm a fan of bass...but I'm not a fan of bose either.

You haven't heard a well thought out system sir. Subwoofers might play 2 octaves of the music spectrum. They don't produce music by themselves. But it's absurd to assume you have quality without them. The same is said for tweeters!! Now I will concede that most people aren't the brightest. They just throw big speakers in there and get happy if they move. Then 5 minutes into the drive you have headaches and nausea. Next thing you know everybody is vomiting on the side of the road...etc,etc. I don't like that crap either. Those kinds of people ruined car audio ;P

Assuming one driver can do the job of a tweet, mid-range, AND mid-bass...now that's crazy I dunno if I could ever keep OEM speaker/radio anymore. I'm that jackass

My bose sounds pretty damn good. With my Xplod EQ, and bass booster on my iPhone it bumps pretty good.

Anyone who makes grand assumptions about other people based on their own opinion of an entirely subjective experience is an idiot.

So now that the tables are turned... I support what rob is saying.

The bose system, I suppose, would be perfect for certain types of music such as classical or some country. I listen to pop, rock, and other upbeat stuff and it really sounds horrible with the mids emphasized and bass "clipped". Maybe if I had the head unit with 5-band equalizer it would be better, but the 2-band I have now doesn't adjust the frequencies I like.

If you have to use EQ you're doing it wrong.

Because bose has a tendency to have over-exaggerated bass around 100-120 Hz to compensate for the lack of lows.

Here is a nice article for you to read on Bose. Basically, Bose sucks. People in the music business say that Bose is an acronym for this:

    Buy
    Other
    Sound
    Equipment

    intellexual net · m k i v

Don't kill the messenger here, I am just letting you know that Bose isn't all they are cracked up to be.

people in the music industry will also spend 50 large on an amp because of its sales brochure so don't quote the same people who are ruining todays already mediocre music by compressing it so much I can't turn it up without it sounding like ass.
