Im looking for some nice speakers to replace the ones in the rear of my car. im not saying i want some 6x9 speakers but a pair of speakers that can be heard at like a car show. and if said speakers don't exist then just a good pair of loud speakers for the rear that can be powered by an amp and are loud enough. all help is appreciated.

Most speakers can't handle that much power in the first place.

Find some speakers that can handle a decent amount of power and have a decently high sensitivity rating and at least 40-60 watts RMS.

Thats about all you really need to look for.

Speakers aren't worth what they ask for most of the time.

^Exactly, I've owned many sets of highs, and also have blown up many sets of highs (maybe might've pushed them too much ). I still manage to warranty most of them. I'm going to start on a new set up this summer. Anyhow look for a good deal, and most likely a nice 4 channel amp. Then get some nice mid-range speakers, and a pair of tweeters. Nice and loud.

yeah thats the thing. Im LOOKING for some loud speakers. im not sure how many rms maybe 100+. and i understand about pricing i just need a good list of speakers (not subs) that i can take a look into. ive been searching for so long and i can't seem to find a pair. and im not looking for tweeters and mids i just want the highs. im not really interested in replacing anything but the back speakers in hte car. but i appreciate your enthusiasm.

Speakers fry from clipped power just as easily as too much clean power FYI.

Do you want just bass and some lower midrange or do you want full range sound back there?

Full range sound never works well when it bounces off the rear windshield.

Parts-Express.com:Tang Band W69-1042J 6"x9" Subwoofer | subwoofer 6"x9" subwoofer long throw subwoofer tangband tb speakers tangband-22008

A pair of those on 100-150 watts each would be nice...

According to this: Peak SPL Calculator

You're looking at 113.8 dB before any cabin gain. Expect anywhere from 116-120 dB from a pair of those with a 100 watts each.

OMG i said not subwoofers. im not looking for subs i already have those. I just need a good list of SPEAKERS, u know for just treble (with out the bass like u would get from a PA system in a school i geuss). and yeah i under stand abut the windshield thing im not sure if im actually mounting it where the old speakers go or putting them somewhere in my back seat or something. but im not looking for subwoofers. im looking for speakers. im not quite sure wat clipped power is so ill look it up but i was going to power the speakers i find with an amp not straight off of the headunit.

Treble is ~8 KHz to 20 KHz. Typically a tweeter covers that.

What i'm telling you is... speakers in the rear deck sound ****ty since it pulls the sound away from the front.

If you still want some, go to best buy or circuit city and get some that are on sale for a price you're willing to pay.

Yeah, but those need proper enclosures or you'll blow them. Unlike car speakers, those you can abuse more because they're designed with that in mind.

    any 6x9 will work...

Those pro 10's will work but you WILL have to cut rear deck and build a box for them

They can work, they'll be louder than hell with a hundred watts on them though.

A pair of those on 100 watts each = over 120 dB....

They HAVE to be in a ported box else you won't have and bass and you might damage them. If you do put them in a ported box, make sure you run them with a crossover.

Example, tune the box to 60 Hz then cross them over at 80 Hz. That'll be loud as hell, and still sound decent.

If I were to do a budget home speaker build, I'd be using pro drivers for sure.

Yeah you can drill the box right onto the sheet metal back there, just line it with silicone so it creates an air tight seal.

I'd look for an amp that can do around 50-100 watts on two channels.

That'd be more than enough for that type of speaker.

It's good to see some questions towards speakers and application vs installation. Amps are over-rated. Speakers are way more important. Amps either have what you want or they dont; they pretty much sound the same as everybody else.

I think high sensitivity + lots of power = gewd times.
    11 is louder than 10!

Parts-Express.com:Pioneer FB12EU14-51F 5-1/4" Poly Cone Midrange | midrange 5-1/4" midrange cone midrange sealed back midrange pioneer

This with these two of these on each side Pioneer USA - TS-T110 - 7/8" Hard Dome Tweeter with 120 Watts Maximum Power

Nice and loud, but the tweeters don't do so well in the upper end and the mid's fall off after 500 Hz. They didn't require any enclosure so take your pick. Million and one speakers to choose from out there.
