I just bought a 2007 Grand Prix GT with the base radio in it with XM. It sounds great, but two of the bulbs in the display's backlighting are burned out. I currently have the stereo out, but not unplugged (don't want to get it programmed again). I also have the faceplate released from the stereo, but also not unplugged. I stopped there because I wasn't sure if I unplugged the faceplate if that would require the stereo to be reprogrammed. Now, I'm assuming the bulbs are replaceable. But just need to be sure before I unplug it, or if I should just try to get the circuit board away from the plastic without unplugging it. Thanks.

You can unplug it and it wont affect the programming in any way since they are programmed to your specific vin number and loss of power does not affect this
I beleave they will be soldered in ,but in hopefully a week or two when i get around to upgrading to the 6 disc monsoon i will replace the bulbs in my base stereo just for the sake of making a write up to help others since it is a common problem.

Alright, thanks for the reply. I'll check it out tomorrow, I'm not afraid of a little de-soldering. I wasn't sure if the programming required it to have constant power to remember or not.
