I currently have a CD player out of a 1993 Firebird in my Grand Prix and I was wondering if a Delco CD player from a 1992 Grand Prix will play CD-Rs. My current CD player *will* play them, however, it only seems to work when it's either warm outside or the CD player itself warms up. Otherwise, the CD-Rs play back with a static-type interference noise (assumedly playback errors). For clarity, this thing plays real CDs just fine all the time. I'm hoping someone who reads this thread still has their Delco CD player installed and can answer my question.

Negative, 92 there was no such thing as MP3's or CD-R's for public use let alone digital media use other then documentation and ****.

you will have to get atleast an 98 radio cd to play the cd-r's

Thanks, WhiteDevil, however, my Delco 12-disc changer in my Firebird plays CD-Rs perfectly, and it was assembled in November of 1995. By the way, I love your avatar...very funny. It reminds me of this TrailBlazer I saw on the road one morning...the owner had a professionally done decal of an arrow pointing to his gas cap that said "Deposit savings here."

Okay, I realize that this thread is really old, but I have a definitive answer for this question. I was able to find myself a factory CD player for my car. The thing was a core (but a damn good looking one!). I had it professionally refurbished. The thing works like a champ now, and YES, it does play CD-Rs!
My other car is a Trans Am. No really, it is.
