good choice on the 10" sub. they sound better than 12" subs anyway. more crisp and to the point. **** big, long bass notes.

I prefer the 12" buffalo chicken sub imho. You can get them at subway for $5, good deal.

And I thought you were Mr. Factoid machine...

To the OP, heres a great shallow mount: Parts-Express.com:Tang Band WT-1427G 10" Neo Subwoofer | WT-1427G subwoofer 10" subwoofer low profile thin mount neodynium subwoofer tangband tb speakers

Heres another good one: Parts-Express.comayton QT255-4 10" Quatro Subwoofer 4 Ohm | subwoofer qt255-4 10" subwoofer dayton quattro dayton subwoofer dayton 10" woofer email-quatro-4-3-08 DayAudSub11408

Parts-Express.comayton RSS265HO-4 10" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm | subwoofer rss265h0-4 10" subwoofer dayton reference rs sub dayton loudspeaker reference-22008

That last one would be the best in your price range of ~$100

Things you should care about: Xmax, sensitivity, power handling. Everything else is irrelevant in your price bracket unless you want to go ported or sealed.

    This just proves they're overpriced.

Why waste your money on any retail brand subs unless you can get them for cost? (Aka know someone who owns a shop)

I wouldn't be so quick to exclude them Matt

Tuning in car audio is an art. I have the feeling that you're pretty big into home theatre. It's very different from tuning in vehicles. There's basically two avenues you can run down...processing + install or squarely install.

There's a lot of processing on DIYMA. I think you're a fan of emphasis on install.

Do a master EQ on your install with at least 15 channels then do an A/B test (with and without EQ) and see which seems more lively and authentic.

One will be flat yet dull, the other will be peaky yet lively. Which one represents the original tracks more accurately? Depends on a lot of things, including your own hearing and your own interpretation of accurate.

DQS Six Channel Digital Car Audio Equalizer

That's what I have. Going to purchase the DDC at some point so it's actually useful. It's flat right now. Still playing with attenuation, T/A, tweeter direction, etc. It's starting to come out very nice and even. I def. have an issue with some freq's peaking more passenger side vs. driver side. I also need to treat/design the doors for the mids I placed in them.

i'm an old believer in "you get what you pay for" saying, so far, it always comes true. since ur name says "iraqvet" in it, I'm sure you've been here, to iraq. and if you dont notice everythings cheap from the haji shops but are always garbage. just one example we both should be able to relate to.

Might wanna take some measurements, I'm willing to bet they'd match the calculated frequency of the issues you're having.
