    i'm a music technology student right now...and in theory it shouldn't matter on a sub b/c sounds that low aren't directional. It has to do with the wavelength.

    yes but it also has to do with air space when it comes to ported box's i if u take a ported box and put it facing back i the trunk of a car its like making a box in a box witch makes more pressure i face my 15 up if i put any thing other that my sub box and amps in the trunk (ex. pillows or a shoebox a bag)
    there will be a very noticeable difference in the sound
