    2) ...you can use a standard 6x9 speaker for a replacement, but you would have to rewire them, bypassing any crossovers and connecting all 4 wires for each side, 2 +/- to the bottom, and 2 +/- to the tweets.

BTW, the remote turn on wire is Purple going into the Monsoon. YW.
    1 & 2 seem contradictory.

Monsoon does not have a "turn-on" wire. The stock amp responds to the audio signal, using that to switch on/off.

    Well, golly. Wrong.

Pin #6 of connector C3 that goes into the amp is listed as "radio on". Listed as pink for Saturn Sky's and Hummers with Monsoon, is found as Purple in Grand Prix's. My own testing found the 0 volts on the wire with the radio off, and 12 volts with the radio on. The same wire is used to turn on the Sat. antenna in the roof. The same wire that is currently turning the amplifiers on and off in my trunk.

If you look at the Full Service Manual for '06-'08 Pontiac Grand Prix's, in the electrical section, you can verify this for yourself. As I did. You can even download the FSM as a .PDF from right here on GPForums. Like I did. That way you know you have good information on what you are doing, so you can get 'er done right, and then share that info with other people. Like I did. Not just shoot my loud mouth off in forums. Like you did.

SO. Yeah. The purple wire going to the Monsoon amp under the deck is the remote turn on wire.
