Hey! I have an 08 GXP and I've been looking into possibly pulling my cats but I don't know how many we have/where they are at.... What is the easiest way to get rid of them, down pipes?

leave your cat. plural, its needed in your 08 car.

leave the res too, or your car will sound like crap.

You have A cat, not two.

You have 1 downpipe. It's a transverse V8, so the exhaust connects via a crossover pipe. Stick your head in the engine bay and you'll see it.

Why do you want to remove it?? There is no performance gain from doing so.

Remove the mufflers if you want to straight pipe it, save yourself the hassle and to keep the check engine light off.

Like I said you have ONE cat converter, either chop it off and install a straight pipe and deal with the check engine light and likely some cat tests that reduce fuel mileage without a tune or buy a aftermarket downpipe and do the same thing.

Also without a cat and straight pipes it will be obnoxious and lots of rasp and crackle and likely drone.

it still sounds like crap. that other guy did it, same dumb thread, a month later he had to pay to put it all back on. cause his ears were bleeding......

it really dont sound good one bit, v8 or not. its not a camaro. its a transverse v8 with crap manifold set up still like the v6.

if you want it flow better and sound better, get headers and a new cat back....but you "need" the cat. like it or not.

dirtdog just did this to his gxp. look his name up. it sounded pretty good.

It's a v8 computer, it can be tuned with no cat just like the trucks. But then you'd want a bigger resonator.

so if no tuner around, you need the cat then. or buy a htp tuner.

Also if you have remote start, it won't work after you set the check engine light for no cat.

That's why I ran a catted ZZP downpipe. Cut out the resonator, get some mufflers of your choice or don't run them at all.

Yes it's still raspy and sounds like dog crap; no you won't have any hearing left afterwards.

But who cares, not my car. Buy the DP, take it to an exhaust shop and have them do what you want. It's called money. You hand it to them after they get done.

No I don't know what they charge; so shop around locally and find someone that will break laws and cut mufflers off.

That's the low down to your answer.

If you need anything else, ask this guy: www.google.com

So, I can tell you straight from factory exhause get the down pipe and chop the resonator the cat will still keep it mild. You can have an exhaust shop chop the ends till it accepts 3" pipe in and out. So no loss there. You won't have drone and the sound will only get attention on cold starts and above 3500 rpm. I'll see if I can dig up a clip.

Here's a quick rev I have no cat , headers full 3" exhaust to a 36" long glass pack and two 2.5 inch inlet quad tip mufflers
