so im going to install a shift kit into my 06 grand prix gxp. does anyone know where the best place to buy them are? i havent had much luck on google finding a gxp shift kit. I know theres different types of kits and this is my daily driver car and im just wanting to put one in to kinda help the tranny last longer. right now it has 143000 miles on it and i have no trans problems yet. and what are the torque specs for the accumulator thats another thing i have not been able to find just yet. any help and/or advice on where to buy or how to install are greatly appreciated as i have never attempted a shift kit before.

i made a typo in the above post...my car has 43000 miles on it. also ive looked around quite a bit and have decided on a triple edge shift kit. Has anyone that has used this one have any hints on it. does it come with everything i will need to do the install. It looks like it does but ive never done a shift kit before.

It does come with everything that you will need. TEP is a good vendor to work with.

thats what ive heard. I'm still learning about all the different vendors and everyone one every sight says for the 4t65e-hd tranny i have that they are the very best to work with. Ive just never installed a shift kit before so i wanna make sure i know everything i need to know before i do it in two weeks

I installed it this past weekend and it was extremely easy. I disconnected my battery to reset everything. And the shifts are a lot firmer now. The only problem I ran into was the new transmission filter did not want to go in for the life of me. But I eventually got it

It is snug now. The last time I changed the filter on a grand prix it went in a lot easier. This time I had to use a flat piece of wood and lightly tap it into place.

Did you get the seal out of there before you tried shoving it into place? When i bought my gtp there were 2 seals jammed in there i had to pick out.

You guys realize..the directions that come with most service kits say...if filter is snug in old collar...don't replace it.

I think it's because they know people are going to scratch the piss out of the collar bore in the trans by using things like screwdrivers as pry tools etc to get the old one out. Not everyone is cool like me and realized a secondary use for a tool and bought it.

Blind pilot bearing tool works awesome for pulling out coolant elbow pieces and these collars.
