Scott...I said to have him work the pintle aka moving part of the egr right there at the bottom. if it won't free up..snag one at the JY too.

Personally.. the flow issue not being detected.. well it would be detected by the map. if the map is bad..you see the issue. Plus if the EGR pintle is stuck open that could be adding flow and masking flow.

MAF, MAP and EGR are what I'd aim for.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I think I did it right. I took pictures of the maf and the cracked wire, the egr valve (I think), the tube that isn't connected, and the whole engine. And there's a mess of taped crap

good job eric, show him a 98 up diagram lol you got a 97 with a vac tree on the blower.

this line goes to the other 1/2 under the fuse box, look for the other 1/2 there. you can use new vac line to repair it, just push the hard line into the new vac line.

    the rest looks ok.

    hers a 97 diagram.

the busted line goes to a T like in this pic, or turns past the the bottom of the fuse box to the wire harness.

changing the battery will bust the line time to time.

what problems will that busted line cause? and how the MAF sensor look? the inside of the plug is like orange and the rubber is a little cracked.
should i replace the MAF or replace the plug?

dint see a maf pic. you can take it out and clean it with maf cleaner. but if it was a low voltage code thats not gonna fix it.

and that line is a open vac leak for one. 2, its what powers your hvac controls. like air flow direction, from floor to vent and defroster. that stuff is likely not working right.

This whole time I've been thinking the MAP sensor on the supercharger was the MAF.
The map sensor is the one with the dirty plug. I found the maf sensor and took it off and it's really clean, looks kinda new, the plug too. I tried running the car with it dis connected and it shut off as it has been a lot of the time. I blew on the maf plug and all that and hooked it back up and the car started just fine. Still idling rough, but it started. Is it the MAF or do I need to change the coil packs and spark plugs that are long overdue?

lets clear up each parts so we are all on the same page here.

MAF is screwed into the top of the throttle body. only has a plug to it.

map is on the firewall side of the engine near the alt and has a vac line and a plug to it.

did you ever check that fuse?

I swapped that fuse with a spare, but I don't really know how to test it. And yeah I looked it up and found it, I unscrewed it and all and it looked really clean. The plug into it is purple and looks newer than everything else. Would the low circuit power for the maf or whatever that code said have anything to do with the mess of wire?

low voltage code can be a bad maf, bad wires or a blown fuse.

2 out of 3 look good, time for a maf. find a used one at the junk yard, or ebay, your part # is on top of the maf.

This is the 2nd or 3rd 98 that I have seen with the 97 blower stock. I am assuming that some of them went on to early 98s or they had some laying around still and threw them on.
