Whenever i get on it, even for short burst of speed i smell something burning. It doesn't smoke or anything it's just the smell. I know it has something to do with the motor because it's only when i get up into the higher rpm's. It doesn't smell like smoke. I just can't describe it.

Personally i think it's something within the motor, rockers or something because it does smell something like metal or something. Like i said whenever i floor it on the highway or where ever before i even come to a stop the smell is there.

I have a powerlog. It's been on there for years. I haven't added anything to the car performance wise in years.

If it is whenever you get on it it is the smell of the fuel and air mixture. I typically smell it when a motor is running at optimal level AFR is right.

Believe me i wish that was the problem, but it's not. I've been driving this car for 11 1/2 years. I'm sure you know when you've been driving something for a long time you KNOW when something's different. This just started about a week or so ago. I'll figure it out eventually...might be a few weeks or months.

Do you still have a cat converter on this car? Could be it slowly plugging up.

I was thinking the same thing, but wouldn't a clogged cat slow you down. As far as when i get on it i would be able to tell it's not as fast. Because right now it doesn't feel any different speed wise.

No, it sort of smells like metal or steel when it gets really hot but it doesn't smoke. When i eventually figure it out i'll post an update.

Heat shield fell off? I had one fall off my van and the front header slowly melted my fan. I would think it's gotta be something outside the engine, under the hood. If it was IN the engine, I don't think you would smell it when you were moving. It would come out the tailpipes. Unless you have a breather in the VC.

Anyways, I'd be looking all around the headers for anything out of place/burnt. Or like Bill would say, just turn up the radio and drown out the smell
