So as some of you guys have figured out, I bought an 05' GTP that ended up having a few things done to it by the previous owner, bad things:

    The pulley was a 3.4"
The exhaust had the piping from the Cat to the Y and mufflers replaced
The airbox had been taken apart and I found lots of "extra" bolts and a 10mm socket (like I don't already have too many of those) and the ECM was loose in there.
There is some wiring modifications behind the panel on the left side of the dash (haven't figured out what it is for yet)

Now I noticed in looking at other pics of MAF's that there is supposed to be a piece of honeycomb air straightener in the MAF. Mine is missing, how detrimental is this? is it really needed? I added an intake and a K&N cone filter right at the end of the MAF.

I ran across a guy selling different pitches and lengths as well. I know it is to straighten airflow, but not real sure how effective or necessary it is, since bean counters usually axe anything that isn't important.

Ideally you really should have one.

It will straighten the air before it passes over the MAF sensor wires, the less choppy and turbulent the air flow is the better the sensor read the incoming air.

Some cars react really bad when they are removed and some don't but either way the sensor was designed to have one there. They do not cause a restriction in air flow that you would ever notice.

I took mine out briefly and my car sounded like it had a cam. Go to a junkyard, there should be a bunch you can select from. My idle smoothed right back out after that.

A Member on here, Corey (AKA ITHURTZ) told me about this. saxonpc.com 4:1 ratio 85mm. I haven't purchased it recently but after reading that thread. I will be.

Research shows 69mm? Can anyone clarify?

Just ordered it. 85 mm, and I told them what throttle body it'd be in just in case.

Interesting information, I have to go on a junkyard run this weekend so I'll pick up a new one or measure and order one from saxonpc after I measure my MAF.

    Thanks for the information.
