So I got some heads that have a slight port/polish to the runners for my build. They were a good price and figured it saves me a few days doing my current ones and I now I can practice more porting/etc on my old ones. They do not come with valves. Can I reuse the valves from my old/current heads or do I buy new ones. If buying new best place to get some. ZZP sells some stainless ones are they any value or worth anything or just run stock. I have new valve seals and 130# springs to go on already. The bowls were not touched either. This will be on a xp set up as well with a double roller.

    Thanks!

So tore down the old motor and there was more damage than I thought. Spring broke and a valve hit the piston apparently along with the something that let go in the bottom end as piston is loose in cylinder so who knows what happened...haven't pulled oil pan yet....anyway, what are good replacement valves? Rock auto has a company called engine tech for a reasonable price and Sealed tech which are double in price, which I think is close to OEM...ZZP sells stainless and SI for around the same price as the Sealed tech. Any thoughts. Might as well do all new so I don't take a chance.

instead of buying valves online, I would take the heads to a machine shop to get a valve job done and then see if they will recommend an oversized valve to pair with the valve job.

I took mine to a shop and the seats were rough. They are going to machine the seats and take the same amount from the top of the valve stem.

What did they quote you to do this? My exhaust valves are toast. I was thinking of lapping my own valves. Seen plenty of people do it online. When I mentioned it to the guy at the performance shop, he said "yeah...maybe if you are fixing a tractor out in a field...not on a performance engine." Kinda made me feel like a tool for mentioning it. But this shop builds pro racing engines. I did mention to him I'm on a ..ahem...BUDGET build, but feel like I'm not gonna get my heads back till he talks me out of a grand .

I had a valve job done on mine and had the machine shop clean them up, and it ended up costing me 250

i think he meant grind the valves to match the new valve seats.

i got a inside deal. Guy is doing it off the books for $200 with mild porting. They have a machine that grinds down the end of the valve stem to match it once they deepen the valve seats.
