I am in the middle of replacing the timing cover gasket on a 2006 Grand Prix GT. Is there a specific alignment for the timing gear and the cover? I see a dimple on both parts but they do not look like they are aligning in any position. Any help is appreciated.

Just turn the oil pump gear in the cover until it slides on, a flat tip can spin it a little, you can look in straight from the front to line it up.

I got it on. Tried putting bolts on the top holes and that allowed me to align the bottom.
