I think the key is partly luck, probably more that the previous owners kept the vehicle stock and didn't beat on it. Lots of highway miles. No fancy transmission coolers or anything. They changed the trans fluid every 100k (twice), and I pan drop every 30k or so. Pulled the remains of a thrust bearing out of my last trans filter, so it's certainly not going to live forever.
