I found a 98 regal gs, has 200,000 plus miles, they say it may need a computer, they are asking 800, my question is will the computer out of my 00 gtp work in it since they have the same engine?

You could wait for someone that's been in the game longer than me to chime in but I'm like 95% sire

As far as I know, the computers aka PCM are the same... the software and data they contain is NOT however.

Correct, the piece of hardware itself is compatible, but would need to be reprogrammed to work.

The PCM doesn't often go bad. Do you have any information on the symptoms? Also.. if the body is in good shape and it kinda runs.. we could help you fix nearly anything.

It'll be stalling or running horribly. I'd bank toward tune up, crank sensor and or maf.

Or, not to be sexist, but female+supercharged = 87 octane... etc, etc

most women wouldn't push the car and never end up killing pistons. It's the Tim C's that would do that

I think that's what my 00 gtp is doing but hoping the rubber oring fell down and maybe it's sucking air when the gas gets low

If it ends up being the computer, there is a 99 regal GS in the junkyard close to me. I could snag the PCM for you. You'd just have to cover part cost / shipping. I'm living in TN, so shipping to Georgia shouldn't be too bad.
