^ this is what I was thinking. And yes, if you do remove the balancer make sure the keyway lines up with the groove on the balancer!! I recently cammed an L67 and put it back together correctly. Then had an oil leak in the seal behind the balancer and replaced that but forgot to put the balancer back on the keyway. Had to replace the balancer and was thankful I didn't wreck the keyway/tooth on the crankshaft! But don't risk it. Make a checklist or something and on that list put down to make sure you put the balancer groove on the keyway and make sure to quadruple check it.
