Supercharger Air Leakage Ports closed with RTV

While rebuilding my engine, I took the supercharger off and examined it. I found two ports next to the outlet port to be closed. What did I do? Opened em back up.

I have now come to discover that they are actually air leakage ports, and closing them will make the supercharger louder and increase efficiency.

Does anyone know if there are any measurable gains to be made by closing these off? And is it okay to close them off with RTV? Because I believe that is what they were sealed with when I opened them up.

Nooooo don't use rtv.. That crap will break off and ended up in your motor and then you can look forward to rebuilding it again

. It's called silencer ports.. No gain from closing them off but it increases the supercharger whine slightly. There's a how to in the how to section

Alright thanks, I cut as much of it out as I could, but they aren't perfect... Do you think I should pull it back off quick and essentially sand the remaining substance off to make sure nothing breaks free?

Someone posted a response direct from Eaton concerning those holes and was confirmed that they have nothing to do with performance and only for noise levels and specifically NOT to use JBWeld to close them.

That post is how I discovered their purpose. I just wasn't sure if using RTV was any different from using JBWeld.

rtv is soft and rubbery when dry. jb weld is like a rock when dry.

You really don't want to put anything in there unless you weld a plug in.

Does that mean it is better, worse or no different in terms of durability in the supercharger? I would assume RTV is better.

neither is really good for this mod. best to clean it all off what ever it is.

if any part fails and it get eaten by the engine its bad news.

RTV -might- be less dangerous if it gets sucked in, but can still hold a valve open for the split second it'll take to mash it into the piston.

Unless you have a tiny pulley that already screams, closing the ports doesn't make much difference.
