I just recently done a rebuild on my l67..its in a 98 grand prix GTP..during the rebuild I added a cam, its a stage 1x blower cam from intense racing.c on, made by cam motion. I now have my engine back together but I can no longer build boost. As soon as my in dash boost gauge goes over half my engine bogs and sputters and looses power..has anyone had this problem? Any fixes?..anything you've got would be helpful

    Thanks!

Do you have a properly tuned PCM? If yes, who tuned it/is it a shelf tune?

when you say rebuild, how much was rebuilt? was a machine shop used?

could be a vac leak. spray some carb cleaner around the engine at idle.

Check your spark plug gapping, if they are gapped at .60 then they are to open . Try gapping at .45.

I thought .60 was roughly ideal?

    .55 here

But I would mess either the ago first or try replacing them. Plugs are stupid cheap anyways if they're copper that is

The more power you make, the less gap is used, most of the time.

I run .050 personally, stops chances of idle misfires and I don't have to worry about anything else. I would agree that .060 is too big for a cammed car.

I want to guess at either misfires or a plugged cat is causing it to bog down.

No machine shop used, built in my shop..I've built engines before but this is my first non n/a..I don't have a lot of experience with superchargers before this build. I double checked my vacuum lines, they're good. I'll check the plug gaps tomorrow and see what they're set at, and I'll try .50 and see if that works. I will update tomorrow after work..thanks everyone!

so you put all new bearings and rings in with out line honing the mains? if so thats your problem right there, the good old 200 mile motor. its letting go on ya little by little.

these 3800 need machine shop work or they go boom, its not a small block chevy, this block will twist some if the crank is pulled.
