hey im still new to this scene. car is still new to me.

So from a cold start there is some kinda line(issue is the "thing" what the line is connected to?) that's by the TB, it first starts off just steaming/vapors/smoking and then it starts to frost around it. I have no clue what the hell this is and don't think it should be this way?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

That would be the egr valve.

Check for leaks on the exhaust manifold connecting to it.

seems like its just leaking from where the egr is bolted. that rusty piece is where it comes from

You have a few options. You could try and find/repair the leak in yours.

Pick up one from the junk yard

Or you could take it off the car and block the ports on the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold.

It's part of the emissions system. You dont really need it. Aside from losing 1-2mpg, It won't affect the engines performance.

so it is just the rusted piece I need? I seem to have ****ty mileage already. wouldn't mind fixing it. I am planning on doing a few mods to the car so might as well keep er up to date.

It recycles exhaust back into the intake. Deleting it entirely will keep your intake and oil cleaner.

If you plan on modding, it may be easier just to delete it.

any others here agree to delete or replace? how do I go about doing so if I decide to plug it?
would this be causing my temp gauge to be very low? or is that still the t-stat?

this is how low the temp gauge runs on a warmed engine... seems to sometimes jump a LITTLE when idle and warm, only sometimes

    Here's the block off plates
    http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...lock-Off-Plate.

What are the emissions regulations like in canada

Some thermostats stay open when they go out. That would cause the coolant temp.

the laws are here but I have never been bothered. my old 2000 dodge had straight pipes and no cat. only bugged once by a cop and I just told him I had a hole in my pipe and was going to fix it. went on driving it like that till I sold her a year or 2 later.
I was going to ask around here if theres any gains of any sort if I was to delete my cat on this car also and straight pipe it. after I get some SD headers and what not...

There are no chips for these cars...it's all PCM tuning. Best place to get a "canned tune" from is Overkill...he's a vendor on here and based out of Canada. Just tell him what you have done to your car, and he'll whip you up something good.

I was going to get a t-stat today from NAPA but is there a better route to go performance wise?

Don't remove the cat on 01+ cars, you'll just make it run worse.

And no, thermostat and performance don't go in the same sentence. Grab a 195ยบ and pop it in there.
