Just picked this car up and it's running hot, checked the coolant and it looks bad/rusted. I put a new thermostat in last week and bled it but it runs warmer now. I'm going in for a coolant flush tomorrow, do you have any recommendations? Things I should look at?

Hoping it's simpler than a headgasket.

    Thanks, Justin.

Well, with it looking rusted, the whole cooling system is probably gummed up.

Have it flushed and filled with regular green coolant, and bled properly. (The running warmer after messing with the cooling system is usually do to air still trapped in the system)

I'd drain it and fill it with water and then go drive it for a while to cycle it all throughout the system. Do that 1-2 times and then add new coolant.

I did some homework and I'm having water pump symptoms. That makes sense with the rusted coolant. Taking it in to get a flush and water pump today, hopefully that resolves things.
