That's what I've been deciding on. Mines running on a catless downpipe, no resonator. Well, it's not a V8 and I don't want it to sound like a ricer but Im wondering if it still will have that deep rumble if i throw on some Dynos.

We use 3 mufflers... LOL although a glasspack isn't really a "muffler"... Right now I am thinking of getting a Borla XR1 race muffler they call it, I call it a borla resonator, to put in where my resonator was.

As for V8's, they all sound different and different exhausts sound better on different cars. I prefer Flows on Mustangs for some odd reason. My buddy has dual borla's on his Cuda and it just doesn't sound right to me at idle, could be his is a 340 low compression very mild cam car. Open it up, it sounds pretty good though. I had Flowmasters on my Chevelle and it sounded pretty good, but I also had two cut outs and that was AWESOME. I am not big on Flowmasters on newer V8's, but Magnaflow sounds pretty good. I have a magnaflow cat back on my LT1 car and it sounds nice. I dunno, different strokes for different folks. My $.02

I went for quiet. 3" piping to a dynomax bullet resonator (doubt it does much) and a 3" walker quietflow truck muffler. Sound nearly stock and works.

Just about every aftermarket exhaust sounds like **** on a 3800 going mid-wot throttle. Idle they may sound nice but that's about it.

^^^ This!!! Between 1400 ~ 2700 and low RPM loads our cars sound like poo regardless. I love my borla at idle and WOT, normal driving it's blah.

I'm sorry but I don't agree. I've been around a LONG time and have heard many different type mufflers on our cars in person. Borla's sound really good. I rank them 2nd. I had Borla's when SCd and turbo'd. Little deep but not too loud. Too bad they are expensive.

The Hooker Max Flows are to me the best sounding for the 3800. Sound great from idle to cruise to WOT. Now since I'm turbo'd the Max Flows won't be as loud if I still had the SC but I can't see them sounding bad. Over time they have gotten a little deeper which I'm happy they did.

The Hooker Maximum Flow muffler actually flows 99% and produces more horsepower and torque than a 2–1/2” open pipe. The Maximum Flow is constructed of an aluminized steel case with stainless steel internal core and uses a high temperature packing material to absorb excessive noise while allowing a mellow powerful sound. As with all absorption type silencers, the Maximum Flow will be most effective for sound control with lower compression (8.5 to 1 and lower) motors with conservative Camshafts and with applications using catalytic converter(s). The Maximum Flow flows either direction, allowing for easy installation.

Other than the packing material and a difference in the perforated steel tube it is all most exactly like what i have in my gtp and my car drones bad especially when in third gear and the torque converter lock up is engaged at 35 to 45 not to mention at cold start with the car in the driveway the Windows rattle in my house on the third floor at the back of the house its like one of those cars thats really loud sound like **** and is going no where lol its too bad cause thats the cars only downfall right now at least

IF I had my setup done correctly, I'd love them regardless. I agree with you, Borla is ranked at the top. My car though is all I can speak for. I'm cat and res deleted. I do have drone and a bit of ping low RPM loads and hwy driving. Small revs you can hear it. After I install a resonator I probably will NOT have this problem...
