Try all the Junkyards down on South Congress near Slaughter Ln(south Austin). If they don't have a decent motor, go to South Austin machine shop(if still open) and hit them up. Can also look on Craigslist. I saw two adds for GTP part outs about a week ago, one of them was a black GTP in Austin. There is hope for your GTP, just have to know where to look. Also try Budget Wrench Apart in Del Valle near ABIAP.
Sure it's not just a blown LIM gasket? As long as it's not knocking I wouldn't call it dead that easily.
Is $1300 just for the motor or installed?
Your saying Manor road, you must be in North Austin near Burnet/183.
Not familiar with North Austin, I am a South Austinite LOL.
ouch i got mine from LKQ for 650 out the door. also i found this site car-part.com they should you most parts in your local area.

Hmm, Lockhart is not to far out of Austin, they have the best BBQ also.
Parting out 98 Pontiac GTP
the main thing you want is an engine that has great compression. Miles you can't verifiy but compression can be. That is what you should be looking for an engine with about 180 across the board and a new lower engine mount will help. I spent in total to replace mine aboout 500 in just little extras that make the differance in how it runs.
Yeah $1300 for an engine is BS, when you can get a long block for $2500.
have you called jasper motors down in San Antone?
Nope, havent checked them out yet...but will be doing so, im all about convience though, i'll spend a lil more to get one from a closer location...already have a damn good mechanic.
