Hey guys just wondering EXACTLY what everyone thinks the most beneficial and critical mods are to a gtp.

I realize there is a search button and have done nothing but read and research. Before I sit down and order my parts i'd like a consensus YES.

Car is an 02 anniversary GTP coupe, 177k. Only mod is a K&N intake.

2 months ago when I picked the car up I did the aluminum LIM, valve cover gaskets, injector o rings, NGK tr55 plugs, charger oil and gasket, new thermostat, coolant elbows, and clearly all fluids.

Starting with a clean slate and all maintenance taken care of lets make a little more power.

    -EXHAUST
    http://www.grandprixforums.net/safel...0-a-67580.htmlhttp://www.grandprixforums.net/heade...ead-25922.html
    Links with info...

(The 02 Anniversary comes with a fatback exhaust system from the factory so I'm good in that aspect of the exhaust system)

So in reading around it seems the front manifold, down pipe and u-bend are the most restrictive piece of the exhaust system. What is the prefered "system" people replace it with. Grab a powerlog front mani and ubend delete? Or run straight into headers and ignore the powerlog, U-Bend, and Downpipe?

Any recommended set of headers? ease of installation and cost effective? I'm leaning towards headers but curious what else I will need to pick up to complete the exhaust system 100% and move on...

    - Tuned PCM

I'm brand new to tuning. Had tons of issues with my 87 Grand national. No idea where to start when it comes to tuning. Always took the car to the shop to fix issues.

Can you pick up a tuned PCM online? do you send yours in? whats the best option available

    -Pulley

At this point I'm not looking at dropping pulley sizes. I've heard horror stories and dont want to get into any trouble with the pulley. However when I'm properly equipped and ready to take the next step...

A 3.4 seems like the way to go. After exhaust and a pcm has been taken care of. am i wrong?

Lets leave it at that for now and expand when were ready

    Thanks in advance guys.
    Derek

    With rims now.

Speed Daddy headers are the better choice for the $$$ AND they are in stock at the moment!!!!

    Tuning:
    1) Ask around or maybe someone will chime in about a tuner in your area, if not...
    2) Overkill is brand of choice, next to Intense.

    Nice Car BTW!!

"A 4.3 seems like the way to go. After exhaust and a pcm has been taken care of. am i wrong?"

I assume you mean 3.4 pulley, and yes, that is the most popular pulley to drop to once the supporting mods are met.

I would skip the tuning unless you want something specific done

    My order was

    1)Intake
    2)Shift Kit
    2) SSAC Headers*
    3) Custom Tune*
    4)Bigger Injectors*
    5)E85*
    6)3.2 Pulley*

    *All done over one weekend

In the next few months I'm thinking about grabbing an XP Cam, 105 Springs, New Timing Chain/Dampener, and a 2.8 Pulley.

Freaking love E85, run it if you have access. Best gas you can get IMO.

How much did the E85 hurt your gas mileage? I have Regal top swapped, VS cam, exhaust, intake running a 3.5 pulley. It was dyno tuned at 270hp and 330ft-lbs. I have access to E85 around Atlanta here, one station is actually just a block from my work, but I am already only getting about 20-22mpg commuting city roads.

    E85 = 30% more fuel consumption...

Order of importance is really up to you!
I will always say Headers first, lol.

You're gonna lose a couple mpg's with E85. But in all, the performance benefits are well worth it.

So Headers it is. Thanks guys.

Even after reading through pages and pages of header talk, there seems to be no great choice.

Pay 650+ for zzp's which still have fitment issues

Go with 289.00 speed daddys, cut them up and install a zzp double walled flex section so there are no leaks... ugly u bend and fitment issues.

I'm still at a loss for which way to go.

Might as well just bite the bullet and grab a set of Speed daddys. at that price I can deal with a bunch of custom fabrication.

I put Speed Daddy's on my car, easily went on, no fitment issues, and I left the U in the downpipe alone. My jack catches under my front end and I have no issues with the U. Custom Fabrication is not needed, would be a cleaner look, but not needed. If you get the Speed Daddy headers, you'll need to get 2 2.25" band clamps for the cross over pipe, and 2 3" band clamps for your cat piece (unless you have yours welded in).
