I'm hopefully going to be doing a ported heads and IC install in a couple weeks. With that said I was thinking this would be the ideal time to replace my 112k stock pushrods. Should I buy some heavy duty ones, replacement stockers, or simply keep running my originals? Not sure if its quite necessary, or if just one of those "why not?"s since it will be all apart anyway.

From a strength perspective, stock or stock replacements should work w/o issues.

Knowing how well you take care of the car, I would assume your stock are still perfectly fine. With that said, it's up to if you want to change them. There's no reason I can think of that would lead you to change them.

I was thinking of the long run. The motor has 112k and is almost 13 years old. It's also been over 5k miles since you did my cam swap. All is well, I just figured with the additional mods and pushing the motor well over 300whp it would be ideal to freshen the vavle train up a bit.

It wouldn't hurt. Do you plan on changing out the rockers at the same time?

Nah, aren't stock rockers the best to run?

Yes, my thoughts was if you are aiming to replace a rod based on miles/wear etc, it seems to me that you would be thinking about the bearings in the rockers as well.

Not that either should be a concern at your mileage. A pushrod in a good motor shouldn't have wear and tear. I could see more of a case for replacing rockers based on mileage/bearings etc.

Hmmm never looked at the rockers that way.. Maybe I will replace them as well since it will be apart. Time to check out rock auto.

I would just reuse everything. 112k is nothing on these motors.

So I should be good to at least 200k with the factory valve train components?

Springs will obviously wear out depending on what you are running. I've never seen a stock style rocker arm or pushrod wear out though.

I guess I'll probably just run the stockers then.
