i just got some SSAC headers this morning and should be in by next week. i was wondering if any of you motorheads had any 'issues' fitting them in and what you did to fix it? i.e o2 sensor hitting the bottom of the floor, crossover to short, exhaust leaks, bad clamps.

ps im guess SSAC is SSautochrome

bad clamps - you can usually bank on that with any headers.

Better clamps, bash in the firewall. Issues resolved. Copper rtv also never hurts.

I didn't have any issues with the firewall with ssac's but the crossover was a few inches off. A big pry bar took care of that.

How about 02 sensor fitment? I'm installing some cheap headers now on an engine out of the vehicle, location of the o2 sensor bung looks seriously stupid and seems way too thick. (sensor doesn't look like it will fit "deep" enough in the exhaust) I realize the sensor wiring will need to be extended, I'll just cut up an old one and solder in the wiring. What way is the 02 sensor supposed to face?

If SD or SSAC headers the o2 sensor will screw in from the passenger side. Or Right to left if that makes better sense.

I just bashed the firewall around the area of the o2 sensor to get more room so it didnt rub.

Thank you! I have no problem with bashing in the firewall as needed. I'm using a new felpro gasket on the rear head (because it was laying around) and doubling up the stock gaskets on the front for now. The ones that came with the headers are going in the garbage and the hose clamps that came with these are a joke...

Original poster: NAPA and Auto value carry nice wide band clamps, thats what I plan on using.
