So I was driving home Wednesday the car misfired for a few seconds the check engine light flashed and it died. The battery has 12.8 volts, the motor has fuel pressure, I have spark at the coils and the end of the plug wires. The car cranks and sometimes stumbles like its going to start but never does. What the hell is wrong with it.

I have done no mods to the engine for about 18 months now, its the same L67 that came with the car. 95K on the clock

Bro, I toasted a motor with cruise control on.

    Go yank the plugs out.

Or..better yet, check the oil for metalliclovelyness.

    Chipped piston.

Ring or something else wrapped around crank?

    No compression on multiple cylinders?

    yeah.

    It's possible.

Pull the plugs and check them.

    That's easy.

I know this is old but i finally got the car going. I have had the car back up and running now since the first of the year. Here was the issue

I replaced the chain and tensionor 20K ago and it broke. I am running 105# crow valve springs. Well seems like that was a mistake, so now i have a double roller on there. had to fit a coolant leak for what ever reason as well, and now the car runs just fine. knock on wood, all seems to be well with the car, plenty of power still. If anyone reads this and has a stock chain on 105# springs, my advice, get a double roller

Yeah, i needed a comma in there to break that up, the chain slack just simply let the car jump time enough not to start or run or do anything helpful

The right side would be pulling the left around. And there wasn't enough to cause the chain to come off the gears, right?

Good catch, was that the stock tensioner as well?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah the chain stayed on the gears for the most part. The tensionor would bind up the chain to the point it jumped. The chain and tensionor where stock oem, i changed when i installed my cam.
