Yeah, lets talk about exactly the opposite in the real world, but apparently in Moscow, everything is bass ackwards.

    Canned tunes run rich.

Canned tunes have "meh" timing tables.

Canned tunes are junk and are dumbed down for people that just want something better than stock but aren't going to benefit from a custom or WB tune...even though every car will.

Dirt cheap turbo kits also aren't dirt cheap for everyone that can fab up all the pipes needed to make it work in their parents basement either. But who am I to judge; keep at this $300 turbo kit business and telling everyone the other end of the spectrum is where it's at, when it isn't.

Eddie, in the REAL WORLD...a base turbo kit, or a used one...will run you at least $1,500...as that is what most Z3 or equivalent kits ship for off the forums...maybe a little less if there are missing pieces or the kit has seen some mileage. Will a turbo kit out perform a stout heads/cam M90 build? Most likely. Is it hard on the transmission...yeah, just as bad a dumb blower setup.

You'll still break sh1t, and you'll still be wanting more after a week of beating on the new setup...been there, done that. Just a friendly heads up.

thanks for giving me good info, ive only been on here since January and so far ive seen about 2 turbo kits go for in the price range like you said. id love to get a turbo and it would be a great way to go if i found one for the right price. im not familiar with turbo's so it will defiantly be something to read up on. i still have time to figure out exactly what i want to do. i think if i find a turbo kit for the right price ill jump on it.

I would definitely upgrade to ~60# injectors.
E85 is crucial for high timing & boost.

Never buy "staged" packages, they are a huge waste of money.

JP timing chains have a well known failure rate.
Rollmaster double's are reliable for longevity, when machined properly.
You should not need any timing chain dampener with any double link setup.
That kit wants you to buy extra junk.
Also, just use stock lifters, rockers, and pushrods with your choice of cam/heads.
Comp lifters are noisy, you'll never 'see' the difference, just hear it.

Solid advice. "I'm buying a built trans"

Lot's of great advice for the OP here.
OP, as a few others pointed out, stay away from the staged kits... they tack on expensive and unnecessary items. The IS3 heads/cam combo has produced solid results. You can expect a very potent setup and with a built trans you'll be having fun for quite awhile.

thanks for the advice! i already had my 42.5# injectors before i planned on doing all this, trust me i wish i could upgrade to e85 but there is no where around to buy it.

the only reason im not sure about going turbo is because i already have a S2IC set up and a GenV i know i could sell it but im just not sure yet. i dont know much of anything about turbos so i have to read up on it. its an option just not sure what im doing yet

    Eddie..

I have done a lot of builds for/with locals and overall turbo appears to be the most powerful. Turbo's do lack the instant power of a charger, unless you brake boost to get them rolling. The two are different types of power. I'd suggest trying to ride in one of each, built turbo and built charged cars. That may give you a better feeling for which direction you'd like to go. Either way, start saving up a ton of money because modding a "gonna break" is what you are doing. Our platform is really not strong enough for the big power builds to last long times when driven hard.

My personal experience and many guys in this thread can back it up as they rode in or helped break the car a couple of times (cough cough 2003 killed my first built trans ahole buddy SSEi) is that titanium retainers do seem to let an engine rev super fast and nice. I do recommend those.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    I may suggest :

    keep SC stuff.

Toss in a XPZ, 130 springs, and lightly mod the heads (cut guides, cheap port work).

    Profit
