I wouldn't. some suggest anti-sieze but I just roll them in and torque a little and don't worry about it. They're spark plugs not head bolts, they don't need a torque wrench or breaker bar to tighten them down, despite what some people have said.

A little in the boot is fine, helps keep the tip from rusting or corroding and helps keep a good connection so you get good spark. you just don't want so much that it kills the contact.
well they came like that so maby they had to much from factory?
