I was thinking of doing this soon too
We used a Push Button Propane Grill Ignitor, and cut a piece of hanger and curved it to the top of the ignitor, so it basically was a "spark" plug. Not an automobile spark plug, sorry didn't know where my mind was, haha. It worked really well. Instead of holding the cannon we made the barrel longer for max distance. The button was on the bottom so we would just slam it onto the ground to fire it. We are actually planning on firing it off a few times before the Cowgirls - REDSKINS!!!! game tomorrow! I'll see if someone can take some video and youtube it.
WARNING: Before anyone plans on making a potato launcher for max distance, and I highly reccomend everyone does because they are very fun and enertaining, please do some research first as PVC piping, and other materials, have their PSI limits. Some cannons have shattered and injured people because they made the fuel sump way too big for what the materials could handle. We built ours after drawing out plans and doing much reasearch on materials we would use.
Better safe than sorry!

Good disclaimer
I don't want people getting hurt, but I want them to have fun!
I like how you have it on a rack Brian. LOL!
