I am looking to Clay bar my car soon. I need to make sure I will be doing it right.

    Wash with dish soap
Clay bar small sections of the car, wiping off after each section
    Wash again with dish soap
    Polish

That is what I think I have gathered from everything that I have read.

If something is wrong there please let me know

    Thanks

    Dish soap........ NO.

Just go wash it at the car wash, touch less obviously, go home, clay bar the car, then wax and polish it.

I thought I heard dish soap from somewhere and how you are supposed to use it before you clay bar. Something about it stripping th pre-wax.

use a good car wash soap, the dish soap isn't necessary unless you plan to paint the car

The clay bar itself will take whatever is left of your old wax off.

Hell, I use Dawn before and after the clay bar, no problems. At least it gets the tar off with little effort.

On a side note, be sure to lubricate the clay bar so that it doesn't stick to the paint.

that can tend to dry the paint out, but if not doing it on a regular basis it won't hurt anything.

Make sure you wash the car after you claybar it too, before you polish.
