    Read that.

KR and pulley size cannot be predicted anymore.

You could have shot valves and loads of carbon buildup in your CC and in your manifolds and could be knocking right now bone stock.

Or you could be in great shape and throw a 3.4 on there and have no issues.

Step one is scan. Then go from there.

Planning any other mods other than finding a scanner and someone to tune/tuning tools is pointless.

Well the thing is you can run any pulley you want with whatever mods you want each car is different, I have heard of some cars that had 3-4* of KR stock and I have heard of people running a 3.4 pulley with colder plugs colder tstat and a cold air intake a crappy tune and only seeing a few degrees of KR. It all depends on your car.
The info we are giving you is so you can be safe while modding. Most of the other how to modding threads I have read followed the same format as blues does, one even suggests that if your going to mod the first thing you should buy is either a scan gauge or a tuner, a tuner being the better option of the two.

Many box tunes besides the ZZP like to run very rich because its expected most users will try to run pulleys that are too small for their engine.

Why would stainless headers heat the engine bay more than the iron manifolds?

What has everyone told you about exhaust on these cars this far?

Like I said at the beginning:

if anything wouldn't headers cool it down? i realize there is no heat shield on headers but exhaust flows better and smoother through the headers then restricted manifolds

Those headers bolt right up to the stock catback right behind the cat and right before the res. You do not need to mod the stock catback.

Then you want a stock muffler. Just like you want a stock catback because its not a restriction, your manifolds and downpipe are.

Anything but stock mufflers sound like crap.

But you'd know that if you bothered to search any of these topics.

They've all been covered a thousand times.

    look....guy...

do you wanna know why the vendors say you can run that pulley size with no mods??

ill state it again since you obviously didnt understand what blue said earlier.

they say this **** so youll buy from them, if you broke down the specs in their tunes, you would see that they drown the **** out of the engine in fuel to keep knock (predetonation) at bay.

if you knew what you were reading, and actually learned something from us, then you would have noticed the n/a stage kits suggest using 104 plugs.....you will never use a 104 plug on an n/a car because it is TOO COLD....Also the same concept as the stupid pig rich tune, keep the cylinders cold. STILL NOT HELPING YOUR ENGINE!!!!!

Buy a scan gauge/aeroforce...SCAN THE CAR!!!!....Put FLOW MODS ON, fix whatever you have to in the exhaust system, but just listen to us when we say that it doesnt need modified. a 2.5 catback will not effect what is going on in the cylinders. HEADERS, on the other hand, have a GIGANTO****INGMATIC EFFECT on how much knock you will have.

Like he said. They want to sell you a downpipe, then a plog. Then a set of headers.

That's because most of those guys are old school GP owners. I ran a 3.4 pulley with intake, dp, and 1st gen Intense PCM with 0KR.

And I guess I will add my name to the lucky list since I've owned 4 modded GP's all were daily's, 1 of which had a 3.0 setup and another which has 200K miles on the factory engine with a turbo kit and none of them chipped a piston.

In the end a scanner should be your first mod. Im sure thats something everyone here can agree on. How people drive around without monitoring detonation is beyond me. It seems like youre more concerned with sound than anything else. You can build whatever catback you like, thats your preference. But at the end of the day that is not going to flow no better than the real bottlenecks of the system which are the manifolds and the downpipe. If you dont want headers right now just get the pulley, intake, pcm, plugs, and scan. Many of us ran for years like this with zero problems. Also if carbon build up is a concern seafoam the engine. Its easy and kinda cool at night. Good luck on your build, let us know what worked for you.

WHY IS EVERYONE SO OPPOSED TO DOING A COMPRESSION TEST TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS?
