What year and model do you drive?
Does the route have any relevance?
Did it flash or just come on once and go back off?
Did the car/engine/trans feel different or act oddly?
I drive a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Daytona 500 Edition
The route doesn't have any relevance to the situation
It stayed on until I dropped below 60mph but then once I would hit 60 again it would come back on.
Nothing on the car feels different or is acting oddly, as far as I can tell everything is working fine.
Please have the car scanned for codes. Most codes set a history marker even though they aren't illuminating the light at that moment. Bring us back the code number.
Just on a hunch, I fig'd I'd check the MAF sensor. Cleaned it nice and pretty with some CNC MAF Sensor cleaner. Still no joy. After cleaning and taking it for a ride, it kicked on at just over 60Mph and then came off when we slowed down. Still rode like a dream too.
I'll be checking for codes later. The downside is that I was checking for codes on a different issue last week and it was clear. No biggie though. I'll just throw the box on and check again.
BTW... for those of you wondering. I'm the elder of the Kutulu/Alcatraz combo.
Alrighty then....
We took the car for a ride having an Actron CP9180 scanner attached. Although the "Service Engine Soon" light came back on around 60, sure enough..... no codes were found. During this ride, I was able to record the engine data. I've attached it to this post. I'm hoping some one here would be able to check it out and provide some input on it. The output is 50 frames (-5 to 45) of data every couple of secs. Enough for a 1/4 mile or so.
If some one could check this out it'd be great. Since there's no codes being registered, I'm a bit at a loss here.
Thanks again!
There aren't any codes stored that your scanner can read. May make this a wheel speed sensor or something body related that the 9180 isn't made to see. Which might explain why it's exactly at 60mph that it comes and goes.
