I've my car for about 5 years now and had to replace the 90 degree elbow above the water pump 3 times already. Is this normal? Is there something that could be causing these to go bad? Any different aftermarket elbows i could buy? I'm getting tired of this damn thing

    It's the same thing guys...

    I wouldn't RTV them.
And Dorman did have an issue. Call and tell them about the problem. They had a batch or something be wrong and those are lifetime replacements. They should toss you a new set. Then lube the rings.. wiggle that elbow as you tighten the bolts and it should be all set.

I had the same problem. Oxidation of the aluminum on the sealing surface. Cleaned it up with 400 grit sand paper and used some silicone plumbers paste on a new elbow. It never leaked again. Well, so far it hasn't. I just jinxed myself.

I'm pretty sure my rate of success isn't luck. Likely it's just a good install procedure.
