Okay so I changed out the battery cables a few days ago and thought that solved my ltft 16.4 and P0171 problems but they are back. My scan tool is flashing 2 emission monitors and they are htr and O2S. I have read enough to know that the O2 sensor is usually a misdiagnosed cause of the P0171. I am as sure as I can be that there is no Vac leaks anywhere, checked all vac lines checked egr even checked the oil dipstick to make sure it was sealing in the tube and nothing. I hate shotgunning parts but read about the IAT and the ECT as possible sensors that could alter the trim levels as well as how the the O2 sensor data effects it as well.

To give a rundown on things already done

Lim/sc/tb gaskets all vac lines replaced
MAF, IAC, TPS, CAM sensors replaced
Have switched between 3 seperate PCM's - 2 stock 97 pcm's and a tuned 97 with a mild tune and all the parameters are essentially the same with any of the 3 PCM's

I am at a loss what to do next. My rpms have a little fluctuation maybe + or - 150 at most at idle but not enough to really think CPS but if the CPS can effect fuel trims then I'll go ahead and change that but I am stumped.

    Thanks

an exhaust leak before the front o2 sensor can cause this. and just because most of the time its not the o2 doesnt mean its not this time.

    when does the flogging begin?

Any codes for the O2 or is it just the monitors/tests that aren't ready yet?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

lol flogging has been continous since issue returned. No codes at all not even the P0171 yet but I am sure that is a matter of time. I am embarassed to say that I don't know 100% how my scan tool works but from what I can tell the monitors are flashing cuz they can't function to test which is why I am thinking o2 sensor but I dunno. I unplugged the iat and ect last night and the temp reading went to negative 39 at startup so I assume they are at least working at this time but they could be working yet faulty???

The sensors can go bad, however typically they are pretty robust. Like how I said..yes and no at the same time?

I'm a bit happier since you don't yet have the code. Not a bit happier about how much I drank last night.. it's kinda a rough morning. Try watching the O2 sensor with the car running/driving. It should fluctuate up and down.. say 100mV to 800ish.

Well get some damn coffee and help me with my car. It is not my problem how much you drank last night. Didn't you take into account that it had been about 2 days since I had posted an issue with my car. You should have planned on this coming today and not drank so much so you could be of more help. Jeez some people!

Oh and Swiggles thanks for the info I appreiciate it. It is just kinda Bill's responsibilty to offer up suggestions to get my car running and into the high 11's with my stock setup since I took his advice and changed the battery cables what a goofy azz idea that was.

BTW I am 100% kidding with the smatazz stuff just in case anybody was wondering, although the 11's would be sweet but I'd rather have my damn trims where they are supposed to be at the moment.

I got the code to go away. ... you said trims are fluxing. Not that it set a code. Job accomplished lol

Did you pick up a fuel pressure tester the last time you were at HF?

Nope but I did just get my monthly booklet so there may be a reason to go again and get rid of a coupon or two dozen at HF. Could my fuel pump be doing this? I have had the relay pin bent since almost buying the car but never really thought about that much. For all I know and assume the car was running 16.4 when I bought it but it could have changed when I bent the pin to set pump on high
