Take off the upper motor mounts, rock it forward.
Maybe this can help i am not to familiar with the 04 but this is for on 01 i don't know if they are the same or not

are these the black ones up front?
Correct. 15MM ratchet and box end wrench to remove them. You may have to grab the blower to rock the engine a bit to remove and reinstall the bolts.
We did plugs on an 04 GTP this weekend. Piece of cake.
fwiw I bought this tool take comes in handy, especially for the price. Amazon.com: Lisle Engine Tilter: Automotive
Something that no one ever mentions is setting the e-brake and putting the car in neutral before tilting the engine. The two tilter tools that I've seen, both recommend doing this on the GM FWD vehicles. One of the tilters has a warning label on the tool itself.
The way I do it, you leave it in park, rock the car forward, and set the e-brake when the engine is tilted as far forward as it will go. Usually about has the front manifold against the fans.
A steep incline helps too... I changed all of mine in less than 30 minutes...
I moved the motor the first time, but after that, you just learn how to snake your arm back there, after I remove my STB, it takes maybe 5 - 15min(sometimes I remove th O2. sometimes I don't) for me to do all 3 back plugs
I have only had to rock 1 engine to change plugs (lumina 3.4 with intake over them) there is a ton of room on th gp to get back there (did an '04 the other day)
yous guys must have pencil arms, i tell ya... i have to rock the motor forward, but i just remove the motor mounts and use a ratchet strap from the engine lift point to my garage wall to tilt it...
I'm 6 foot and weigh 285, "pencil arms" Is a phrase I would never use to describe my arms
There is about 10 inches between the engine and the firewall, once you figure out where the plugs are and how your arm has to go, it is easy as pie.... now if you've ever tried on a V6 mini-van......
I donno why people complain about the plugs on these cars. Hell I have an IC and a STB and there still cake! Try changing plugs on a 4th Gen F-body, you'll be thankful for changing plugs on a GP...
