I have a 2005 GTP and the only mods are a cai, axleback and bosch plugs with zzp wires. I put 4 plugs in and had a mechanic do them while my car was in the shop on the last 2 (couldnt get them out) and now its got serious misfire-like things. I think. Its struggling to gain revs under full acceleration and the exaust sounds like its coughing. Its really bad. Any ideas on whats wrong/ how to fix it?

bosch are junk plugs.
replace with AC delco or autolite iridiums.
NEVER use platinums.

Plugs probably aren't tight or the wires are lose. Those spark plugs suck too.

Copper core Autolite's would be the best bang for the buck.

For some reason and Bosch had documented it on their site at one time, their plugs get chewed up in our waste spark ignition system very quickly.
Take WOTGTP for example. his plugs were swapped in when he got the car from a dealer. A month later..he had misfires up the wazzooo. Swapped plugs and was a much happier camper, til his transmission died

Got it looked at and after replacing it with some ac delcos they said the cat was causing my misfire or choking, should be under warrenty so ill let you all know whats up

This is a lie, as anyone that can perform arithmetic can attest to. Iridium spark plugs are the best bang for the buck. Over the course of 100,000 miles, you will save both money and time.Originally Posted by AjL227

LOL, wow dude. You're trying too hard. It isn't a ****ing lie either.
I apologize let me rephrase, copper cores are the best bang for your buck with a modified car that is changed often.
People come to the forums to discuss modified cars, if your junk is stock, stick with the oem manual and gtfo.

Wow maybe time to switch mechanics. It would have been better to leave the 4 in until you could figure out how to get the other two out. I'm guessing the boot cover was stuck and not the plug and your mechanic didn't want to deal with it. Still fail on the mechanics part. I bought NGK plugs and when I took out my old autolites they said NGK on them, haha.

i think he meant HE as in the OP couldnt get the last plugs out, so he had the mech do it while it was in the shop for something else. i could be wrong though.

Not trying to be captain obvious, but have you or the mechanic verified the firing order and the plug wire order? Maybe you swapped two plug wires. If you both checked it, then check it again because it happens a lot for some reason on these cars, lol... Everyone swears that its right then they find that 2 of them are swapped after all and all is well.

Excellent point. If this is the case, then you've likely fouled out most of the plugs by now and will need a fresh set.

They said the wires were too big for the plugs and they werent connected all the way. So i replaced the set with iridium ac delcos and oem spec 7mm wires. Runs perfectly now and the guy at autozone said something about Pulsar plugs that run 1,000,000 units vs the 9000 the ac delcos did. Any of that kinda true?

Pulsars are definitely a gimmick plug (what units is this snake oil salesman talking about?), but I don't recall hearing about them causing issues - there was a thread a while back where one of our member tried them and saw a very slight increase in gas mileage, but results will obviously vary (so many factors - weather, tire inflation, etc). Basically, you've got about the best plugs money can buy already. Save the $80 and call it a day.

Holy **** that explains a lot. Makes some sense the guy was telling me about heads with holes for direct injection that gave him 10 mpg too
