I was doing an LIM gasket and decided i would port and polish my SC while i had it off. heres some pics

And, you now have a paper weight!
You cant touch the walls of the blower... there is a -.002 interferance with the case, it is what creates the seal that keeps boost in your motor.
Someone probalby has a new blower around here for around $100.. so it shouldnt hurt too bad.
I saw first attempt at Porting and Polishing and got all excited... and you did well for first try on porting.
Some waviness I can see that could be touched up, and more rounding could be done... but not bad
As far as polishing, you did well, except for like darkhorizon said... there is a very small gap for cleaning, and the EGR would just make it all dirty again by the time your engine warmed up to proper operating temp, which is why nobody worries about the inside. Its not like anyone would see the inside anyways. Polishing the supercharger usually refers to the outside casing.
Nice work tho
FWIW I advise not to clean the inside area where the rotors sit. Becuase of the clearance issue. The bigger gain could be had at the inlet end and smoothing the roughness.
OUCH... that blows man. the rotor pack wears to the case anyway. im not a fan of swapping cases as i feel this could result in a bad seal too. like said if you sanded the walls of the case it is time for a new blower.
Air density has a lot to do with it. It's cooler and therefore more dense air as well.
You going by an actual reading or the Giant Pile tinker toy block sticker looking boost gauge?
Regals have a digital numeric readout. In case one of you guys I'm normally picking on is wondering.
I imagine you feel like you didn't lose any boost, but really you did. Porting the outlet should have allowed more air to be pushed into the LIM thereby giving the engine more power. You don't notice any loss because you killed pressure with the polishing, but upped the outlet so you countered your own modification. You have a ported blower that might be performing like a stock blower, grats
well... opening the outlet would have allowed more boost and polishing the walls would have lowered it... the outlet looks great. you may have a net gain. but still lost some from polishing the walls.
IMMABOOSTIN' muh LEGO'S!
I guess ill make myself look like a dumbass and say giant pile tinker toy guage. Alls I know is it never maxed out until now.
I lost about 2-3psi according to the real gauge in my Bonne when the coating got stripped off the rotors (long story abotu TB cleaner).
You probably lost a pound or so.. power will still feel pretty good and well.. I think maybe you could buy a sticker that shows a maxed out block toy thing.. or glue some legos there. Remember go with red and yellow blocks only. Green don't match well.![]()
