I just installed an intercooler core and now im getting massive missfires in cylinder #3 & #6. I was thinking bad Ignition coils so I switched coils and still get missfires in #3 . Could it be something with the coil plate? I had to use 2 nutsto raise the top enough to clear the belt. Could this be my problem??

Well we.had to raise the coil plate so im wondering if thats causing some kinda of grounding issue because if the nuts I used to raise the plate. Wow run on sentence.

Holy sh¡T Batman! I tried to drive the car down the street. It barely moves no matter how far down I push the throttle. Now thats some ugly missfire combined with a bigass vacuum leak. I can hear the leak plain as day. Its louder than joann rivers. Ill hafta tear down everything ive done and start over...............yay.....@$#&.....

    What kind of core?

You do know that plug wires 6 and 3 are on the same coil pack right?

It goes like this from the top...

    6
    3
    2
    5
    4
    1

Then if your standing in front of the motor...

    246
    135

For the IC core...what did you use to seal it? RTV and gaskets?

I am well aware of the firing order. I knew the coil could be a problem. So I tried switching 3 & 6 with a different coil pack & I still get missfire in 3 & 6. I think part of the problem is how I raised the coilpack plate.

It's the stage 2 core & I used the small amount of water resistant RTV ZZP gave me to seal the lim on the edges, & both sides of the s/c gaskets. I'm sure what they gave me wasn't enough.

I'm thinking its a combination of vacuum leak & coilpack problem.

If you bent the ICM at all. Swap another on there for testing. I've seen an ICM not fire a coil.

It's highly doubtful that you have vacuum leaks at 3 and 6.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Ignition Coil Module gotchya. Well I did hafta drill a small hole in the plate directly beneath the coils. The hole was for the bolt that came with the intercooler kit to raise the coilpack.

I still think it's a plug wire or plug problem. I posted that in your other thread.

It could be so I haven't that rule it out.

I did get an awful high MAP kPa reading of 40. Only one code P0300 random multiple missfires.

I'll see if I can pick up a new ICM @ salvage or from a local.

When you take the coils off..they sit on the icm. did you drill into the icm?

Yes, to make clearance for a bolt to raise the icm. That was my mistake.

Can't you just use a H-Body coilpack bracket?

If you drilled through an elecronic item.. that might have caused a problem. LOL

"Problem exists behind the drill" LOL

H body requires the tensioner as well.
