as title says im considering starting to save some money up and taking the L67 from my 98 GTP, buying a fiero, and putting that fun motor in that fun car. Looking fro someone who knows the swap somewhat well that can answer some questions on the whole ordeal.

First off, unless your 98 is totaled or otherwise unsellable... I wouldnt take the motor from it.... There are plenty of bargians out there to get supercharged motors with transmissions, wiring, pcm out there for quite cheap. (not ed morad)

Also, doing a turbo is quite simple and cheap.... it is probably cheaper than doing a mild buildup of the m90 setup, and nets you alot more horsepower.

well see people say that i can find a full motor for cheap but iv searched around and haven't found a single thing and near my area cuz shipping it is just expensive. And another reason id just want to take the motor i have is because i believe i only have space for one car and i like the looks of the fiero better than the grand prix lol. And on a turbo note i thought about it but not sure if i wanna get rid of my S/C that scream at people as i fly by lol.

Although the 2 3800 swapped fieros I own make GREAT daily drivers, I would not have them as my primary car.... They ARE small, and they are just not a reliable platform (swap related stuff sometimes, but usually the 25 year old rusty fiero falls apart on you)

My stock 97gtp comes in for the winters and other situations where you need a trunk/backseat.

Secondly, the supercharged fiero swaps rarely can muster blower noise over the extremely short and high flowing exhausts that are required... exhaust on a SC swap is probably the hardest part of any 3800 swap... making it quiet is also near impossible.

As far as finding a motor.. you should be able to if you have some time... search car-part.com daily, and typically do not rely on information exchanged over the phone with a junkyard... they may say crap just to make you go away because you are annoying, or they may try to mislead you into things....

I wouldnt attempt building a fiero for less than $2000.... I did it for half of that, but I also spent a bit more time collecting parts vs paying alot for them.

As far as a turbo setup goes, I have never spent more than $1000 on any turbo kit i have built on a fiero. Intercooler, turbo, injectors, wastegate, bov are the main turbo parts you need, the rest is little stuff.

Top dynos are anywhere from 350 to 411ish. turbo makes that easily.

Ok so basically if you want to go over 400whp you should just turbo instead of build up the stuff to get the s/c to that? Cuz that's really what I was going to shoot for in the long run. But I really wanna know what all it takes to take my gtp from where it's at (basically stock) to around 400 or 450 whp maby a little more for the lowest cost and time consumption. What would be yalls recommendation?

Hey!!! Glad to see your thinking about getting a Fiero. I have a nice little 86 GT Fastback in my garage. I love it. Thing handles like nothing else... If you, want You can also find a lot of info on Pennock's Fiero Forum. There are a lot of guys on there running anything form stock, to boosted LS V8s. 3800 engine is a very popular swap for the Fieros.A stock non-moded L67 for example will put a Fiero in the low 13's. :-) Good luck on your build!!!

Depends how much power you want... I say start with a stock motor and see what you want to do from there....

Well I'm just trying to decide what I want to get ready for really. It's going to be a while before I can put anything to action because I have to start saving money for it all. Thanks for the info to the fiero forums ill be going there alot. Always loved how the first looked and like you said with a good 3800 they can be pretty quick. Plus if I can get the money to do it why not combine the fiero with a 3800 turbo lol but on the turbo aspect I want to be able to hit over 400whp so what recommendations do ya have for that?
