ace are you saying you have those headers and they fit with shortened dogbones? also anybody used the power log thing? like this from zzp ZZ Performance worth it? and i see ace you have overkill pcm with your settup. where do you get it and how good is the tune? ive seen lotsa bad things about "box tunes" on here specifically zzps, is overkill one of these? someone up there said something about making my own cai. any idea's on how i could make one thats just as effective if not more so and looks neat? i want my car to look professionally done when i do stuff with it. i like keeping it very neat.
Hey dert, sorry for the late reply!
1) I have stock dogbones, SSAC Headers won't fit with the shortened ones from ZZP
2) Headers is the way to go in my opinions, dont spend the money on power logs and downpipe, it will be less efficient and more expensive (logic? none)
3) I've been very satisfied with the Overkill PCM so far, you can get it at : :: Overkill Motorsports :: However, if you can get a custom tune somewhere, get it.
4) Check out my cardomain site for the intake, my car is super neat indeed : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/386700...iac-grand-prix
5) I got the parts from : Intercooler Pipe Fabrication - Silicone Intake Systems Auto Parts You'll need an aluminum pipe, two couplers or reducers and a dual cone air filter.
HAVE FUN!
And BEFORE dropping a pulley, scan for knock retard! The 3.5" pulley might cause big time KR on a GenV. I have a 3.6" pulley and I think I still have some KR with all my mods.
Your best bet is to get an Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge and keep track of your KR. Or go to your local tuner to get rid of it.
if you want to cut a bunch of things the headers will fit with the short db's...better idea, sell them and buy some stockers. as far as making you own cai look good depends on how much time you want to put into it. heard great things about overkill but an in car tune will trump any box tune
okay well what could i use instead of shorter db's? my car is lowered remember. and with the cai ill put the time in to make it look good if i can really save good money with good results i just dont know where to start even haha
lotsa good stuff thanks. i know i could go measure on my car but ill just ask. what size inlet is my stock throttle body? like what size stuff do i need for custom cai?
Use 3 inch pvc
Just bolt a cone filter to the end of the MAF...you win.
04+has external mafs...you dont just bolt a filter to it like 97-03
Then it just hangs there and you end up keeping the rubber piece thqt goes between the maf and the tb which has a funky bend in it
Nope...you replace that with a smooth rubber coupler from Home Depot for a few bucks as well...

Which you buy right next to the pvc! Lol
But who buys extra crap you don't need NOAH!!!

If u use a 3inch pvc straight right off the tb it create support for the filter so it doesn't flop...and we all have gp's all of use buy **** we don't need lol
i know this is late but ace or anybody, what size stuff do i need for my home made cai? i got the 3.5 inch inlet dual cone af. what size stuff do i need to go to my maf and from maf to tb? is it all 3.5?
Bolt the cone filter to the MAF.
Get a 3.5" in/out coupler for the factory corrugated rubber piece in between the TB and MAF
