Re: Won't start after cam install
That's actually good.
It started!
Greenish tinged oil is the cam lube that you used. (I'd bet).
At the worst you need to put a new timing cover gasket on it. That's not so bad. You got that one covered and you know that none of the bolts will fight.
Wanna see a video of my car running with the flex on 180 degrees off? Had to pull the motor to fix that one.
Re: Won't start after cam install
I'll have to get under it and see exactly where it's leaking from. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. I want my car! :(
Re: Won't start after cam install
Should I use RTV on the front cover?
Re: Won't start after cam install
only where it meets the pan gasket.

Re: Won't start after cam install
Tore the front cover off, cleaned it up nice and put RTV exactly like BillBoost showed. I've got it all reassembled and hooked up, but I'm wondering if I should wait for the RTV to cure, before I fire it up. It's been about an hour now.

yeah, let it sit over night. and make a videooooooooo on the first start :th_thumbsup-wink:
Re: Won't start after cam install
Start that b1tch. I never let RTV sit over an hour and it always seals.
Re: Won't start after cam install
I'm gonna let it sit overnight. I put quite a bit of RTV on there. I want it cured haha. I'll be sure to take a video tomorrow! Thanks so much for everything guys! I hope everything works.

yeah, i mean with your past luck (similar to the way mine goes sometimes) i figured it a very good idea not to chance it.
i'll be expecting vid tomorrow. :D
Re: Won't start after cam install
Who waits?
Ok ok. with what happened in the past, it's a good idea. :(

Re: Won't start after cam install
I started it up. Sounds good. Im getting like a loud clicking noise every so often. I'm not sure what that might be. When I shut it off, I heard a gurgling noise for a few minutes. Thats probably the air in the coolant system though. I also noticed my oil pressure is quite low (35 PSI or so). I used to sit around 60 or so.
Re: Won't start after cam install
and you failed at making a vid. congratulations.
but on the flip side, i'm sure you will work out those minor issues. bleed the coolant and go from there.
Re: Won't start after cam install
adding a cam alot of times will make less oil pressure unless the rpms are set higher.
Re: Won't start after cam install
I'll make a video tonight! I am bleeding all the coolant first. I think that solved the snapping noise. Yes my oil pressure is about 30 PSI.
Re: Won't start after cam install
Thought I had it running good. But yet again, I have problems. I took it for a drive and first off, its ticking very loudly. Probably an exhaust leak. My LTFT's and STFT's stayed at 0 the entire time, didnt move once. My car sounds like it's hitting the rev limiter when I try go past 4000 RPM. It feels sluggish and irratic, and the boost gauge is constantly vibrating and fluctuating like 5 PSI. Here's a video, I don't know how much it will help.

Re: Won't start after cam install
I've had that problem when my ICM was bad and when my harmonic balancer was bad...
Kinda difficult to diagnose.
