I'm slowly pieces the motor back together. I read somewhere that I should prime the oil pump with petroleum jelly. Is this a typical thing to do?

If you take it apart, yes. Otherwise, leave the icm unhooked and crank the motor for a few seconds. Let it rest. Repeat that like 3-5 times. That should prime you too.

^^I do the latter...and it seems to work just fine...that way your not getting questioned by your buddy's why your buying it at WalMartLOL

Alright cause I already cranked the cover down and started putting accessories on. Don't wanna have to break it all back down

ill throw it out there, the jelly trick is oldschool. priming is better
