So i've installed some headers recently. mods include pcm tune, u-bend delete, resonator delete, catless pipe, 3in FWI. Im stumped on why im boosting low. At low to mid rpm at WOT i boost from 1-3 bars less than full boost. at high rpm i boost full. I have checked for vacuum leaks and have not been lucky. I sprayed carb cleaner around the intake manifold and found no leaks. The thing that gets me is that while running an open header i boost full. Can restriction in my exhaust cause low boost? ( at the Y-pipe it goes back to 2.25", stock mufflers) Or what else can be my problem? I'm also running a little rich from the tune if that is some important info...

forget everything you know about carbuerators. if air cant get out, air cant come in. open headers are just awesome. and you really need an appropriate boost gauge.

where did you come from and who allowed you to give advice?

sounds like what happens when you put headers on a stock car. you drop boost. tune your car, then pulley down.

yea i have a the stock pulley. i jus bought a 3.4, jus waitin for the puller to install. I also found a huge leak on the inlet tube that goes into the intake manifold from the egr. i just deleted the egr and i got my gas mileage back! But to clarify... i shouldnt be too worried that i dropped a little boost unless it still keeps happening after the pulley drop?

This is the same scenario I have: put on headers and a tune, but I'm waiting to buy a scanner before popping my 3.5 pulley on.

Boost is slightly lower at mid throttle, but I'm not really going WOT until I have a scanner.

whats wrong with my advice? would you not agree that a proper boost gauge is a good idea? and would you not agree that a couped up exhaust prevents airflow. your just arguing for the sake of it.

the stock catback is fine, even with running headers. that is why im arguing with you.

the stock catback IS FINE. but the principle is the same. more air out= more air in.

Boost is basically restrictions in your exhaust, heads, etc. You get "boost" when you engine cant pump out the air as fast as it's coming in. Just because you lose boost when you open up your exhaust, doesn't mean your losing power, you're gaining it actually. You're just running more efficiently.
