    Ok guys,

back from a few weeks ago I still have no solution to my dead car. Rebuilt the alternator, no change. I had a guy that worked as a mechanic on electrical stuff specializing in alternators, he says the problem isn't there. I've messed with the major vacuum lines, replaced a few just in case, no change. Someone suggested it may be the CPS, and from what I've read on here that seems to be a logical possibility. The car starts up, runs just above 1000, drops to normal, then drops to 0 and dies obviously...All in about 5-10 seconds. For the most part, when the belt is off the car does not do this, or at least it takes a minute and that's seemingly more on the battery wearing down. Even though its only $30 I'd rather not replace the CPS and just go around changing sensors if there's no possibility it's the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, I have the next few days open to try and fix it so.

    Thanks again guys

have you unplugged the MAF and tried starting the car and seeing how long it will run?

Yeah, I've tried the MAF sensor and most of the other ones that are up around the TB...Same thing, no change
