Recently had headers put on over the weekend. Now when i start the car there is a very very very noticeable growl coming from the bottom of the car where the pipes are. Also when i accelerate it almost sounds like it is spitting. Would this be symptoms of an exhaust leak? or is this normal? i am waiting for my new hi-flow cat to come in. Will the cat fix the sound problem since its being welded on? I love the sound of the actual exhaust but the sounds coming from the bottom of the car is killing me. It sounds like a old muscle car which i wouldnt mind if it didnt sound like its spitting fumes everywhere.

    Which headers?

Double check your clamps because sometimes they can possibly come loose after just being installed.

If they are Speed Daddy's then I'd just bet you need to re-seal/clamp them...and it is probably coming from under the car at the catback flange also...check that gasket.

You will have a lot more sound w/o a double wall stock downpipe, then you'll have more noise from SD/SLP single wall flex sections, and you'll defininately notice a big difference w/o a cat in there silencing things.

Beyond that... you gotta crawl under and feel around for leaks.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I always used a piece of paper and held it by the exhaust pipe...that'll tell ya where your leak is.
