So I want to get some of these speed daddy headers or whatever the brand is after reading that incredibly long post about em and having people say they work. Anyway I was wondering about getting them coated. I think I might be able to do it myself, I have access to a sandblaster/glass bead machine. Could I use that and then just get some good high heat paint or something?

And the other question I have is about running no cat. Does it really make your car smell bad to you or other people? It's not really a legal issue where I live but I don't want to be stinking up the road haha.

They are stainless...so you won't need to coat them. Plus they turn a freaking cool lookin blue/gold burned color. It's fine as is.

As for the cat...its your call...stink? No...it just smells like more gas. I think it smells good. I like the smell of gas. Maybe that's why I'm retarded...too much fumes.

X2 only thing i would do is get band clamps... i picked up some today from napa. stainless 2 1/4 inch for crossover and i had slip fit pipe underneath welded. band for downpipe to collector is fine. these clamps i got are really wide and will cover the entire slip fit joints on crossover. 15.00 bucks each.

Ok thanks for the info, I just didn't want the heat from the headers to make my engine bay too hot.

I was thinking about just welding everything together actually. Idk why it wouldn't work. Plus it'd seal alot better I would think. I have a good wire welder and I know how to weld so yeah.

Umm, I would'nt weld the joints if I were you.

What if you ever need to take them off? If the motor needs to come out or a head serviced your kinda screwed. The joints will seal just fine with some exhausts sealer (in a tube) and the aforementioned band clamps.

I personally bought the SSAC headers and the only other thing I had to buy was the sealer and an O2 extension harness.

Stainless is a whole nother beast to weld good. I would get some band clamps and rtv and they will seal on the first time. As for no cat the smell difference is very small, if you are worried just get some fuel additive sent. Cherry is great.

2 for the cross over. They are 2.25" IIRC. Then just use 2 3" horse shoe clamps for the pipe were the cat goes, or that can be welded.
