dump the M90 and get a whipple charger!
I have an XP cam setup already at my house. but i was thinking of getting a better cam... not 100% sure yet if i should keep the XP or move on to something with more power.
How does the XP Cam Vs the S1x compare? HP,TQ,MPG
I just got a GEN V. I'm not going to a whipple on this car. this build is centered around the GEN V.
Doesnt mean i want to have to fill the ****er up every few days!
but i just read the two threads on the S1X VS XP. Debate..
Midrange vs Top End power................
I kinda wanna get the S1x cam... but seeing as i already at my house uninstalled have the XP cam and supporting springs/chain/retainers i think i should stick with that
So now the question is should i still buy Heads & fuel injectors/rails? or just stick with the I/C, GEN V, & XP Cam, 2.8 Pulley.
I've dealt with a lot of S1X and XP's. They are so close that it really comes down to tune, driver etc. It's nearly the same cam in the end.
If you have an XP and think you might want to go bigger later on, consider keeping your eyes open for rockers. 1.7's are common to see on top, and 1.8's have been done as well. This retains the cam profile that is streetable and yet increases lift etc for more power.
IS3 + 1.95's?
LOL
E85 gets no mention yet? I could see there not being a lot of fill up stations in Florida i guess...
Are 1.84's and a S1X or other cam do able or is 1.8 the limit with a cam? Also, seen you guys say the diamond forged pistons are a waste of money. What's the WHP limits of the stock pistons. I know the powered rods in the L32 are better. I heard the pistons in the L32's can handle a little more power than the L67 pistons.
generally speaking most heads are limited to .600" of lift after they've been milled 100 thou.
then you have to have a spring setup that can prevent your valves from floating with that lift.
Forged pistons and l32 rods in a fully balanced motor would be nice but stock pistons are more than adequate if and only if your tune is spot on.
8's have been done on both an L36 and L67 stock rotating assy so take that as you will.
Reason I asked, some of the vendors have told me limits of 400 whp for the L67 pistons and 500 whp for the L32 pistons. And .600" even? Looks like 1.84s and a S1X would put me at .605".
Stock heads are limited to ~.515 or so.
you can get more clearance by milling the guides .100. in theory you should be able to run up to ~.615.
Finding a spring that would support that lift would be fun.
I can't see those springs letting the timing chain last very long if this is a DD.
Intense sells a double spring kit for $500, ouch that says it supports up to .650" lift. What's the max lift recommended for a DD? Yeah, was worried about the timing chain and roller lifters having too much stress. Trying to build my Regal for DD and the GTP for weekender / sometimes DD.

I DD'd an XP for quite some time...I wouldn't even think about DD'ing my Thrasher cammed car with 130's & a Double Roller.
