I would buy oem GM gaskets and chuck the garlocks ,I used the oem's and had no sealing issues.
Throw away those POS Garlocks now unless you want to redo it in a few months. Even with RTV on both sides there leaky bastards. Probably the worst aftermarket gasket i've seen, i've replaced 3 sets myself!
Buy OEM and take the trash (Garlocks) out to the curb!
I agree, the Garlocks are 1 step above nothing at all....
but in answer to your question...

im about to pull my ic core apart. weak sauce. hope you had better luck than me, but whoever built mine put the core in backwards. good thing i have bolts put through mine to seal it.
Garlocks will seal with RTV, and they are thicker than stock; it may help with keeping a thermal barrier between the LIM and the core. That being said, I prefer the GM gaskets over them. Use a thin layer of RTV anyway, it will help hold the gaskets which were not really designed for the type of boost we can make on smaller pulleys.
I've installed 2 sets of Garlock gaskets w/ RTV on both sides and they got oily in 6 months. I've used stock gaskets w/ RTV on both sides and they've held leak free for years. Stockers FTW.
Garlocks w/ RTV will leak eventully. Garlocks w/o RTV will leak even sooner. There a piss poor gasket and OEM or Felpro is better.
I still got to remove those POS Garlocks gaskets from my car, I can't wait till there gone and I can install my trusty felpros.
GARLOCKS SUCK!!!! my buddy has them on his implala and i know of 3 times he replaced them with the same brand "garlocks" its a sad sorry i think he is nuts!!
