I am looking into getting a downpipe from ZZP and I was just wondering what i all need to get for a downpipe. I have a 2000 GTP and I do not want to do any welding to it. I am looking at getting the 2.5 inch 304 bolt in with cat. That and the gaskets should be all I need correct?

    How effective is the DP?

If your city doesent have emissions (mine doesent) then go with the 2.5 ss bolt in off road dp...and yes the 02 imulator is nessary to not have a cel light...if not you will have a cel light but it wont hurt performance in any way.

I'd go with a 3" DP w/ no cat if you have no emissions. You can eliminate the codes one of 3 ways... Get a rear o2 sim, get an overkill pcm and requested the rear O2 to be deleted, or get a tuner and delete it yourself.

You can buy bolt in DPs which would be 3" DP, back down to 2.5" to bolt on to your stock cat-back if thats what your running.

You may check out Hogan performance and WBS, you maybe able to get a better deal on DPs...

Just my opinion....with stock exhaust dont get a 3''..I dont see the point in a 3in dp on stock 2.5 in exhaust...if you plan on upgrading the stock exh at some time go for it...but it is only like 10 bucks more for the 3in i belive...so who cares....

3" DP has proven its gain over the years on these cars. Besides, the farther back exhaust goes, the least it needs the bigger diameter. If I remember correctly, out of even stock manifold its 3" or close to it.

I'd say spend the $10, get the 3". You ain't gonna loose any power, you may not gain much either. I've had about 10 different setups on my car so I can speak for damn near anything. I currently have a full 3" Exh, 2.25 Y it ain't hurtin me, ask my tires...

I really do not plan on doing any other exhaust mods to it so I may just go with the 2.5. If I go with the 3, will everything still bolt up?

We do not have emissions inspections where I live. Will not having the cat hurt anything? (Mileage or otherwise) Will my car be louder without the cat?

    Thanks guys.

yes the 3'' dp will still bolt up...as long as you get the bolt in version.it is reduced to 2.5 to bolt up to the stock mani and the stock catback.Shouldnt hurt miliage.cat is for emissions only. The car is slightly louder with a dp and no cat...i couldnt even notice except at lower rpm's...even with full headers i could not tell any difference.I plan on keeping the muflers stock because i dont like the sound a v6 with exhaust gives off

I am going to bring this topic back up. I think I am going to order the 2.5 inch bolt in offroad. I haven't decided if I want the 304 stainless or not. Is it really worth the extra $50?

Also, I plan on getting this and then sending in my stock DP and getting the $50 coupon. With that I am going to buy the O2 Emulator. Will I be fine running my car without this for a couple weeks until I get it?

yep. the bank 1 sensor one (right on the rear header) is the only o2 that has anything to do with fueling. the other sensor is only there to tell you if your cat is working or not. so the only thing the o2 emulator is going to do is turn the ses light off. If your planning on keeping that setup for a while and want the resale value to stay up there in case you do want to sell it i'd get the stainless. When i bought the 2.5 bolt in offroad i got mine in stainless.

Well I really don't plan on selling the DP once its on the car because I won't have a stock one to replace it with.

Check with local scrapyards before you send the pipe back. the cat should be worth about a hundred bucks because of the platnum in them. I saw they were offering the coupon but I would rather have cash.
98 GTP - slp powerflo cat back, built tranny, AP104s, homemade FWI and intense 180 stat.

One more question. ZZP has the option of adding a rear O2 bung in the offroad pipe. Could I do this instead of the O2 Emulator or will I still have a SES light?

I'm sure I could but then when I actually have something wrong I won't know because I won't have a SES light.

The after market cat may or may not set a CEL. Some guys go for months with no light, and some only make it a week. Some never see it. It really seems to depend on the car.
